As manufacturing goes digital, security and thus authentication take center stage. Productivity is still the desired happy ending. While authentication can be the hero, in many cases, it is the villain. Why? Because the models many companies use are broken or outdated.
September 28th and 29th saw Nymi’s attendance at the Pharma MES & Process Minds conference in Berlin. The show is a leading knowledge exchange platform for pharma manufacturing around the globe, bringing together key stakeholders who play an active role within pharma and life science manufacturing.
With the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT), the enterprise authentication space now sits at an important inflection point. What we are seeing is a gradual, cross-vertical realization that traditional authentication models do not scale well into the evolving IoT workplace. The reason for this is that IoT infrastructure has the ability (and often, the need) to infer user presence, something we used to infer through “authentication” events, then extend (often blindly) for the duration of a session. Enter the concept of “Always On Authentication”.
We are excited to let you know that the Early Access Program (EAP) for the Nymi Band’s commercial release is now live. We have discontinued the Nymi Band Developer Kit, and the Nymi Band EAP includes our new hardware, supports new use cases and applications, and includes a brand new, fully featured SDK for Windows and Mac.
As we finish off the first half of the 2016 calendar year, we’re excited to share with you some updates, including new device unlock capabilities of the Nymi Band, and a recap of the Cloud Identity Summit (CIS).
We’re excited to announce that Nymi will be exhibiting at this year’s Cloud Identity Summit (CIS), to be held in New Orleans from June 6th to June 9th. CIS is one of the leading events in the identity industry, and brings together organizations and experts to share ideas and insights on security trends and solutions. We’ll be on-site to demo some exciting functionality, including a brand new integration with Windows Hello in Wndows 10, and biometrically-authenticated physical access whereby the Nymi Band can replace a conventional physical access token.
In today’s enterprise, employees are tasked with authenticating to a variety of endpoints and applications, using several approximations of identity. Identity and Access Management systems (IAMs) are designed to manage employees’ access and authentication to these applications and services. In other words, IAMs ensure that the right people are provided the right access, at the right time.
In our ongoing mission to simplify and secure authentication in the enterprise, we have successfully integrated three enterprise use cases - physical access, logical access and contactless payments - into the Nymi Band, slated to launch later this year. Learn more about this development, along with others, in the update below.
Nymi will be demoing the unification of these use cases at this week's RSA Conference. Read the full press release below.
Nymi™ and NXP Semiconductors are proud to announce a collaboration at this week’s RSA Conference to demo physical access, logical access and contactless payment capabilities of Nymi’s upcoming product release, the Nymi Band – a wearable device that delivers secure, persistent authentication solutions to the enterprise. As a part of an ongoing partnership, NXP provides Nymi with the Nymi Band’s Secure Element and NFC components, enabling physical and logical access and payment functionality in a secure, single solution. Nymi and NXP will demo this functionality during the RSA Conference at the NXP Booth (#S1547) between March 1st and March 3rd.
